Camping - there's a first time for everything!

We had a great time camping.  We were at Sleeper State Park in Caseville, MI.  Way up in the thumb and away from most of civilization.  Closest McDonalds was 30 minutes away.

All this... and we used everything we brought!  

Forgot a mallet, so Derek had to go to the store.  He picked up a hatchet.

Strawberry Season!!!

We had such a great time picking strawberries! It was a beautiful morning. Mikey ate more than he picked, Katie picked them one by one, and I ended up with 10 pounds of strawberries!

  

What does one do with 10 pounds of strawberries?  

You eat them.

Wash, mash and freeze them into ice cube trays for smoothies and strawberry syrup.

You make strawberry cake.

Adventures of Flat Stanley

Flat Stanley had a great visit and will be heading back to Grant Elementary this week.  Here are the highlights of his visit.

Mikey was the leader at school and took a quick picture with Flat Stanley.

Flat Stanley helped us plant seeds in our little "green houses."  He was here long enough to see our first zucchini sprout!

 He also came to ice skating lessons with us.

He was here to celebrate Easter with us.  He's admiring Mikey's Easter basket.

 

One thing Flat Stanley wasn't too sure about were the crawfish Mikey was eating.

We hope he enjoyed his visit!

Something for me - a poncho! This was the start where I could begin to see the shape...it was pretty exciting to see I was doing it right!!

The strips were cool...amazing what you can do when you follow a pattern!

Neck shaping...a little confusing at first, but I got the hang of it.

After finishing side #2, I sewed it together and knitted the cowl and Tah dah - done!

Modeling my first big project! Now I guess I have to wait until Fall to wear it :-(
